Get to know our carpets

Did you know that our carpets make up over 50% of our total product range?

Our carpets are designed to be of the highest quality, making them perfect for a busy learning environment. They support the needs of teaching staff whilst providing opportunities for children to learn, be creative and enjoy the process along the way.

Our carpet range has been divided into a number of subcategories, all of which can be used for multiple activities to provide a valuable cross functional resource in any Early Years and Primary setting.

We have explained below all of the different features and benefits of our carpets to help you advise the end customer on which product would best suit their space.

Why are our carpets unique?

All of our carpets are designed in house. Our experienced Product Team research the market, current educational trends, and changes in curriculum to highlight potential customer needs, before passing these on to our Design Team to work their magic.

We map our carpets to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and categorise them to make it easier for teaching staff to see where our carpets support the key areas of learning and development. We also link our carpets to the UK national curriculum and use Sassoon Infant font to make sure letters are easily identifiable.

We also cater for our foreign customers with a range of carpets in different languages, as well carpets with no language, making them suitable for all international users.

Our carpet piles:

We have 4 grades of pile in our current carpet range:

1.         Super Lightweight

This has a 5mm depth pile and is ideal for small play and moving around

Our Essentials range has this pile

2.      Light and Durable

This has a 5mm depth pile and is ideal for walkways and small play.

Our Children of the World Welcome Carpet and both sets of our Small World Road Map Carpets have this pile type.

3.      Thick and Soft

This has a 10mm depth pile and is ideal for classrooms and reading areas.

Examples of carpets with this pile are our Natural World Placement Carpets and our Alphabet carpet.

4.      Super Soft

This has a 15mm depth pile and is ideal for libraries and quiet zones.

All of the carpets in our Luxury range have this pile type.

Different types of backing:

All of our indoor carpets have anti-slip Dura Latex™ backing, making them suitable for any indoor surface.

As well as indoor backing, we have some carpets that have an outdoor backing. This is strictly for outdoor use only as it will not provide adequate grip on indoor surfaces and may result in damage to the carpet if used inappropriately.

More recently we have introduced carpets that have indoor/outdoor backing. This innovative new option means you get the best both of worlds. Examples of products that have this added value feature are our Natural World Counting tiles and our 1-24 Number carpet tiles.

Sizes of carpets:

We offer a range of carpet sizes in order to provide options to suit any space, large or small.

If space is limited then our carpet tiles are perfect. They all include a free holdall which is great for storage but also for moving around to different classrooms or locations.

For more traditional classroom or nursery settings, we have an extensive range of carpets in standard sizes of 2x2m, 3x2m and 3x3m.

We also offer a variety of shapes including square, rectangle, corner, circle and semi-circle.

Different types of carpets:

Placement carpets:

Placement carpets can be useful to encourage children to engage and concentrate. These are available in a variety of sizes and varying number of placements so can be used for the whole class or small break out areas. The benefits are each child gets their own personal space, so they know where to sit and hopefully arguments are avoided.

Themed carpets:

We also have a large selection of carpets that are centred on a theme. Some of our most popular themes are Natural World, Emotions, The World Around Us and Back to Nature. Our themed carpets are ideal for supporting various key areas of learning and development and can also be used to explore different cultures and languages.

Carved carpets:

Our carved carpets add a tactile and decorative element to the carpet, providing a full sensory and visual experience. We have a couple in our Natural World™ range and are looking at expanding our carved selection from 2025.

Care for your Carpets

Carpets should be spot cleaned with a damp cloth only. Do not use soap, bleach, laundry detergent or any other strong household cleaning agents. We suggest moving carpets when deep cleaning floors to avoid contact with harmful chemicals and cleaning machinery.

When vacuuming we advise customers to adjust the height of the beater bar to lightly agitate the carpet pile but not slow the motor, and to avoid going over the binding and edging. This will extend the life of the carpet and help to avoid fraying.

Carpet Recycling

We know that carpets like ours are not 100% recyclable as they are, due to the anti-slip backing that is bonded to the carpet. However, we are committed to exploring options of how they can be reused or repurposed rather than sent to landfill with all the other rubbish.

We will be sharing tips and suggestions of how your carpets can be reused once they have reached the end of their useful life in the classroom. Keep an eye out on our website and social media channels for the latest information.
