Play outdoors - Take advantage if the weather is good and get outdoors, whether this is in your garden or the local park. The benefits of being outside for our mental and physical wellbeing are numerous, and the fresh air is bound to spark your little ones imaginations.

Read a book - Get ahead of the new school year and get the kids reading books to improve their literacy skills, plus this can double up as good quiet time during the day when the excitement levels get too much! Ask the school what they are going to be covering in the next year and find books related to this.

Make healthy treats - Food related activities can have a healthy twist. Create healthy treats by making fruit kebabs, yoghurt lollies, popcorn or fruit smoothies. Getting kids involved with making their own healthy snacks will encourage healthy eating habits through to their adult years.

Do a treasure hunt - Put a treasure hunt together for your little ones with a variety of clues or tasks, and keep them amused for hours. Take them on a journey through the rooms of the house or even outdoors into the community. Its great to get them to work as a team and they will have a great sense of achievement getting to a prize or treat at the end.

Build something - Encourage your little ones to get creative by building something inside or outside. This can be anything from making their own shop, making a den or designing rocket ships from empty bottles and toilet rolls.
